Saunders & Seager

These are garments made by Saunders & Seager, the materials used have been recycled. They take old, recycled, donated clothing and deconstruct it by removing parts of it such as sleeves, labels or panels and then reconstruct the remaining bits by moving seams, reassembling sleeves as leggins, or perhaps a sleeve turns into a torso when opened out, and then they might add bits of detail such as ruffles on shirts and cuffs on trousers from other recycled clothes.

Designs :D

I started off by looking at different washing powder brands such as, Daz, Ariel, Bold and Fairy.

I decided to design my own brands, coming up with my own names and designs. I started off by looking through a dictionary, finiding words that caught my eye that could represent a washing poder brand. These were some of my ideas :-

Lovely

Lilly

Fresh Breeze

Ruby

Pearl

I then started to design the font, size, colour and what imagery would be with each brand.

"LAUNDRY"

For this project I have been asked to explore the relationship between fashion and laundry and create a collection of designs that reflect this in some way.
-I will be observing:
  • Imagery such as: Washing powder graphics, adverts, packaging and care labels.
  • Garments: Aprons and tabards.
  • Laundry as a technique: desizing, dying, scouring, bleaching, mercerizing and felting.
